There are many sights and occurrences here in Africa that raise the spirits, but one special favorite of mine is to sit quietly at a waterhole. We stop at many waterholes on our game drives in the park and often the campgrounds will have a blind overlooking a bore hole on the edge of a pan. Wing sounds from the many forms of bird flight and the interplay and gathering of different animals as they come in at sunset to drink is a soul-calming experience. How great it is to get completely quiet inside and be able to allow all your senses to take part in the world of the waterhole.
